“Speech” is the most common way that people express their thoughts to others. Technically, it is the coordination of air forced through the voice box (larynx) and shaped by the muscles of your neck, mouth, and face to create sounds. These sounds are put together to form words and sentences that mean something. All of this is controlled by specific parts of the brain. “Speech” is not the only way we express language, so “language” and speech do not mean the same thing.
